UIC Research Labs

Knight provided schematic design services in support of NIH grant application under NCRR Research Facilities Improvement Program to renovate 23,000 square feet of the University of Illinois at Chicago’s College of Dentistry Research Laboratories. The program included multiple Translational Research laboratory modules, individual Researcher Laboratories, an Animal Research Center, a Clinical Research module, and Support spaces across three floors of the College of Dentistry building. This project required renovation within an existing older building with antiquated building systems. An all new mechanical system was designed for all areas utilizing an innovative chilled beam concept, providing tempered air for each space within the limited ceiling cavity available.
