Aurora Parking Lot Design/Build | Federal Aviation Administration

Knight was tasked with assembling a design/build team to construct the Chicago Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC) transition parking lot. The facility provides air traffic services to the Chicago and Milwaukee metropolitan areas and handles approximately 3,000,000 aircraft operations per year with a staff of 500 operational personnel. As an FAA-certified mentor, Knight teamed with protégé/SDVOSB firm Geo. Bancroft Engineering and SDVOSB firm Opcon, Inc. to complete the project. Geo. Bancroft is acting as project lead and providing electrical engineering; Knight is providing civil engineering services and general back-up project oversight customary in established mentor-protégé relationships. The construction team is being led by Opcon. The scope of work includes providing the parking lot design consisting of 54 typical parking spaces and three handicapped spaces over a total paved area of 2,820 square yards. Engineering services include scheduling, surveying, utility verification, design of pavement, drainage and lighting.
