Traffic Circulation Improvement Study | US General Services Administration

Knight provided professional services as a sub-consultant to Gonzalez Partners for the Traffic Circulation Improvement Study at Quincy Court in Chicago’s Loop. The intent of the study was to examine the current operating conditions and propose technical solutions to accommodate anticipated future growth and improve the short-term operational conditions of the area. Knight created and administered a questionnaire to local businesses to determine usage needs and patterns of Quincy Court and the adjacent alley. These interviews assessed delivery schedules, parking, vehicular and pedestrian use, and refuse collection. Knight also conducted manual peak-hour traffic counts and 24-hour automatic counts to quantify vehicular usage in the area. Using this data, Knight examined multiple scenarios and presented six to the GSA. The final recommended solution incorporated elements of three of the six scenarios. Knight’s findings were compiled and presented in a final report.
