Sparta World Shooting and Recreation Complex | Illinois Capital Development Board

The 1,600 acre World Shooting & Recreation Complex was developed as a catalyst for economic growth in Southwestern Illinois. Since its July 2006 opening, the $40 million complex has already become one of the premier shooting facilities in the world. Knight provided site and design engineering for the complex including dozens of trap and skeet shooting fields, sporting clay courses and rifle and pistol ranges, and fishing, picnic and camp sites. Knight’s design work included the demolition, widening and resurfacing of existing roads, design and construction of new roadways, walkway, parking lot and shooting stations, site utilities design and coordination, electrical power distribution, design of electrical substations and earthwork. Knight was also responsible for environmental aspects of the project including noise evaluation, permits and wetlands, a Lead Mitigation Plan and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan, and prepared a landscape architecture plan for the site. The firm also provided overall construction management services for the project.
